Reading the site

Pages are served with standard web-server logging (the infrastructure records requests, including IP addresses, for security and operations). We do not run analytics scripts, tracking pixels or advertising cookies. Fonts are served from this site, so opening a page here connects your browser to us and to nobody else.

We also keep a count of our own: one row per page view, holding the page, the country, phone or desktop, whether the request was a crawler, and the page of this site that linked you here if one did. It holds no cookie, no IP address and no user-agent string, so it cannot identify you or tell a returning reader from a new one. Arrive from another site and we record that site's name only, never the address or your search terms.

Tips and corrections

Name and email are optional on tip and correction forms, deliberately: source protection matters more to us than contact lists. What you submit (message, evidence links, any attached files) is stored securely, used only to verify and act on the submission, and never published. Attached files are held privately and deleted automatically after 30 days. If you leave an email, we use it only to reply about your submission.

Advertising enquiries

The advertising form asks for organisation and contact details because it starts a business conversation; we use them for that conversation and nothing else.

What we never do

No selling or sharing of personal information, no marketing lists you did not ask to join, no re-identification of anonymous tipsters, and no analytics profiles of readers. If a story ever draws on submitted material, it runs only after independent verification against public primary sources, and without identifying the submitter.

Questions or removal requests

Use the contact forms. If you have previously submitted something and want it deleted, say so; absent a legal reason to retain it, we delete it.
